Monday sports reports - Did NASCAR know the "car of tomorrow" could fly?

Sundays Sprint Cup race at Atlanta had a scary moment when #12 Brad Keselowski was bumped by Carl Edwards. In doing so it turned Keselowski's Dodge backwards, sending it airborne and crashing upside down onto the outside retaining wall. Click here to view the video of Keselowski's wild ride. Nascar put "roof flaps" on the cars years ago to stop this from happening. I looked at the video and the roof flaps came up to prevent the car from going airborne, but it did anyway. In 2007 they switched to "The car of tomorrow" with a wing on the rear of the cars instead of a spoiler. With more investigation I found that NASCAR is going to go back to the spoiler instead of the wing probably sometime next month. According to NASCAR, fans never embraced the wing; so the switch back to the spoiler. View article here Did NASCAR know there was a potential danger using the wing? Did the wing cause Keselowski's car to go airborne?
